Legoland
In this 128 acre attraction park, life-sized model LEGO buildings and rides designed for children age 2 to 12 are found throughout the park, including hands-on attractions to keep adults and older children entertained. There many themed areas including: Pirate Shores, Dino Island, Imagination Zone, Knight’s Kingdom, Explore Village and Mini Town USA. The Big Shop offers the largest selection of LEGO merchandise in the United States. Lets not forget about the new opening of the two story Legoland aquarium complex. The new feature requires a separate admission ticket and has been a big hit.
Hours change seasonally. Call or check the website to make sure the park will be open the day you visit.
You can save money by upgrading any ticket to a 2 day admission for just a few more dollars. Annual passes are also available.
An extra: There is an available Ultimate Birthday package which includes park admission, a cake, meals, party pavilion and Lego toy souvenirs for each child (minimum of 10 children/adults).

Sea World
Located very close to Mission Bay, San Diego’s most popular amusement park features Shamu, the killer whale, in a splashy stadium show that gets their audience members wet. There are plenty of other attractions inside Sea World, including Penguin Encounter, Dolphin Discover, Wild Artic and Haunted Lighthouse (a 4-D adventure with ghosts and sharks). Along with tidepools, kid-friendly exhibits, aquariums, musicals and water rides on Shipwreck Rapids and Journey to Atlantis, there are also fireworks at night.
Hours are seasonal. Call for opening and closing hours for the day you plan to visit or check the calendar on the website.
If you plan to visit often, buy a Fun Card or annual passport for unlimited admission for one year (there are some blackout dates that apply).

Wild Animal Park
Located about 30 miles north of the Zoo, this zoo sits in a very natural setting for animals in over 1800 acres of land and is home to 429 different species of animals including Indian Rhinos and Pygmy Chimpanzees. Established in 1972, it also offers as a sanctuary to mange endangered species like the rare California Condor. You can also take some time to feed the giraffes or check out the lion cubs cuddling within inches of you in the the Wild Animal Park’s Lion Camp.
There is a large parking lot available on site with shuttle service. The park may be difficult to cover in one day as the park is quite big. For a relaxed tour of the highlights, there is a free 45 minute railway which circles the perimeters and offers some nice views.
You could try going on a personalized safari tour, a 15 minute hot air balloon ride and checking out the popular Cheetah Run with extra fees.

The World Famous San Diego Zoo
The world famous San Diego Zoo has a lot to offer. Open-air trams and a Skyfari ride offer a great view and over 500 animal species on hand and about 6,500 plant species will give you quite an appreciate for the zoo’s exotic charms. There are several exhibits not available at other zoos, such as being able to watch panda bears.
With or without children, the Children’s Zoo is delightful and unique and many exhibits are kid-sized and kid-oriented. Everyone will enjoy the Animal Nursery with its diaper-clad primates and the petting paddock, where you can pet, scratch and tickle a variety of docile animals. There are even Animal caretakers who often bring out baby animals for public display.
Save money by buying a two-park ticket and save on combined admissions to the Wild Animal Park and the zoo.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps
A great place to spend with the entire family for a few hours or for the full day to explore all different parts of aquatic life. The Birch Aquarium is wonderful and the children will especially enjoy it. They have an outside pool that enables you to touch tide-pool animals and see them in their natural habitat. The aquarium specializes in the raising of its own coral reefs. The Birch Aquarium also has a lot of sea horse breeding and it’s amazing to see the various types of sea horses – a muse see for nature lovers.

Balboa Park
Balboa Park is a beautiful and historic park which houses the world-famous San Diego Zoo and museums, top restaurants, theaters and many open spaces. Balboa has 13 museums including the San Diego Museum of Man and the San Diego Natural history museum.

SeaPort Village
This waterfront park and shopping destination is located near destination hotels like the Manchester Grand Hyatt and Marriott, and hosts a number of delicious seafood restaurants, gift shops and a working carousel.
Horse-drawn carriage rides are available throughout the year and tickets are available to purchase near the carousel.
